HR Generalist at the Department of Electrical Engineering

You will be employed at Uppsala University (https://www.uu.se/institution/elektroteknik/), which conducts successful research and education in renewable energy sources and electric vehicles, industrial IoT, 6G communication, and wireless sensor networks, as well as research and education in Life Science, health technology, smart electronic sensors, and medical systems. The Department of Electrical Engineering is an international environment with approximately 160 employees contributing to important technical energy and health solutions at the Ångström Laboratory.

As an HR Generalist, you will be part of the department's operational support. We are a cheerful, professional, and creative team consisting of economists, HR, and educational administration. Our task in operational support is to provide good service and support to the core activities consisting of teachers, researchers, doctoral students, and students.

Responsibilities

Currently, there is a full-time HR Generalist at the department, and you will work together with your HR colleague to lead the HR work at the department alongside the head and the management team. An important part of the HR Generalist's work is to continuously provide consultative and qualified support to both the departmental management and employees on issues related to the entire HR area and actively work on workplace environment and equal opportunity issues.

You will handle, investigate, and drive cases within the HR area. You will follow up on employment, recruitment, and rehabilitation, as well as ensure compliance with labor law and agreements. It is therefore important that you stay updated on laws, regulations, ordinances, and collective agreements within the HR area, especially within the public sector. In addition, the position also involves general administrative tasks that occur within the department, which vary over time. There are also local HR networks for support in various matters.

Qualifications

  • A degree focused on personnel and working life or skills and experience deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience working with HR issues.
  • Experience working with administrative support, particularly within recruitment and payroll/HR systems.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
  • We will place great emphasis on personal qualities. The work as an HR Generalist involves many social contacts, making good service sense and the ability to communicate attentively important. Since the work involves handling personnel matters, a high level of integrity is essential. We value personal qualities such as being structured, meticulous, and unpretentious regarding HR tasks. We in the support function who will work with you see ourselves as a team and highly value your ability to collaborate.

Meritorious

  • Experience working with personnel administration within public sector, particularly at universities or colleges.
  • Familiarity with the university's administrative systems, such as Varbi, Primula, and Adato.

About the Employment

The position is temporary, for 12 months. The extent is 50%. Start date by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
